U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has confirmed that Russia has received shipments of short-range ballistic missiles from Iran. These missiles are expected to be used in the ongoing war in Ukraine within the coming weeks. Blinken emphasized that this deepening military cooperation between Russia and Iran not only threatens Ukraine but also poses a broader security risk to Europe.
Iran’s supply of these Fath-360 close-range ballistic missiles allows Russia to free up its own arsenal for more distant targets, potentially intensifying the conflict. In response to this escalation, the U.S. and its allies have imposed new sanctions on Iran and Russia, including sanctions on Iran Air, which has been involved in transporting military goods for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
While Iran has denied the accusations, the U.S. and European nations remain united in their condemnation of the missile transfer, warning of further punitive actions against Tehran.
